Why me?

Why does everything happen to me? A question asked by my daughter of me the other day. She is going through an awful lot including the potential death of her children’s father at an early age. Needless to say she has her hands full.
Have you ever felt that way? All of us have at one time or another and when we feel that way it is the “worst”, right? She then asked why Dad? As have you. If life was an easy task and all problems definable and easily workable then we could be robots. That isn’t the case though. Time, tenacity and toughness can help you to sustain this time. “Things” do happen for a reason as my father used to say.

What next? You've lost that job.

This has been happening for a very long time. Most of us never plan for the lay off, right sizing, down sizing, re-engineering or whatever name you call it. It isn't something you want to plan for. Many times after the hurt goes away we find this was actually a Godsend. This allows you to pursue new opportunities. There are so many out there now.

Here are a few suggestions of places you can go when you are first let go:
Library
Local support groups
Church
A walk
A vacation
Local employment office
Local colleges
Chamber of Commerce
Toastmasters
Any organization you have an interest in
